OK, so technically it wasn’t a weekend for this weekend experiment, but after reading a few articles on water droplet photography, I couldn’t wait to try the techniques myself. I shot a lot (a lot) of images with both lenses, but one of the first ones turned out to be the best.
This was my setup:
- overturned metal mixing bowl in the sink
- water on the flat part of the bottom of the bowl
- a slow drip of water from the faucet
- camera with 70-300mm lens on tripod
- on-camera flash up, with Kleenex® tissue diffuser (nice, I know)
- lots and lots and lots of frames shot with varying angles, shutter speeds and timing with the drips

That’s really cool!
Thanks!
